| PRESIDENT'S PAGE
If you're new to Chapter 40, please check out the "About us" link. You'll find information about the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), an introduction to our local EAA Chapter 40, and other information that you may find helpful.

We hope you enjoy your visit. EAA Chapter 40 is a diverse, enthusiastic and talented group of enthusiasts with varied interests within aviation. Our primary focus areas are fostering the hobby, science and practice of building or restoring your own private aircraft, and making aviation open and available to young people. Chapter 40 boasts a unique mix of pilots, builders, engineers, restorers and even a couple of genuine rocket scientists. We are a very informal, friendly group who share our love of all things aviation. We are blessed to have world class experts available to assist in nearly every phase of building, flying and restoring an aircraft, and our experts are committed to sharing their knowledge with others of all ages and levels of experience.
This web site is an example of our mission. We truly welcome you online and in person to be a participant in the most exciting of all pursuits: the magic and adventure of flight. Please enjoy browsing through this site for information about our hobby, discovering how your dreams can take wing, and bringing the magic of flight to young people around the world.
Please take us up on our invitation to attend our monthly meetings at no charge or obligation, to learn more about recreational flying, home-built aircraft construction, and free aviation education for kids. Check the calendar for the date and time of the next meeting; the "About us" page has a map. We hope to see you there!
If you have any questions about EAA Chapter 40, please send me an email: president@eaa40.org. I'll do my best to help.
PRESIDENT CHARLIE'S LINK OF THE MONTH:
Every month I post a link that I've found interesting. The link for May is GasBuddy. You probably already know how to check avgas prices with the AirNav Local fuel price finder. The GasBuddy link lets you do the same with auto gas. Just type in the zip code, and GasBuddy will show you gas prices in the last 36 hours sorted from low to high. With the cost of auto gas higher than what we used to pay for avgas just a short time ago, this may come in handy.
LINK OF THE MONTH: PAST FAVORITES
The link for April is Rocketplane Limited. These people are out to change the way space travel is done. they are "committed to making access to space as safe, convenient, and commonplace as commercial air travel." Chapter 40's own Vance Jaqua is working with these guys to get them into space!
What worries me is the part about it being just like commercial air travel. Here's a snapshot from April 1, 2026:
[overhead speaker]: "The white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only. Any transport pod parked in the white zone will be vaporized."
[airline counter announcement]: "Welcome to Venus. We hope you have enjoyed your flight. Due to an unfortunate oversight, the luggage from Flight 723 originating from Mojave International Spaceport has been diverted to Pluto. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for flying RocketAir."
The link for March is the Air Safety Investigators resource page, hosted by New Piper. This page includes databases such as:
- FAA Office of Accident Investigation
- NTSB Domestic Investigation Inquiry
- Aircraft Registration Inquiry
- Airman Certification Inquiry
- N Number Database
- World Aeronautical Database
And many, many more. It's the first place to go for information regarding aircraft accident investigations.
